BIOXHMIKH Labs “SAVE PAPER”: a business without prints
In the context of strengthening corporate environmental responsibility, the BIOXHMIKHIKI Accredited Analytical Laboratories carried out a two-year action to reduce paper use. The aim of the action is to show how any company that maintains a database (ISO quality system or other) can manage its documents in an ecological way and at the same time at almost zero cost, by applying simple measures. The aim of the action is to tackle the problem at source, i.e. the excessive use of paper from the outset, before it reaches the reuse and recycling stage. The action can be considered advantageous in many respects, as it shows the following strengths: a) positive environmental impact, as solid waste and the corresponding carbon footprint and water footprint have been reduced by more than 50%; b) almost zero cost of implementing the measures; and c) requiring overall fewer annual man-hours to keep the required documentation. Thus, maintaining a quality system, or any database, becomes both more efficient and more environmentally friendly.
The company’s action and its results were awarded at the 2017 OIKOPOLIS Awards and will be presented at two of the country’s largest conferences in the Environmental Sector:
