The workshop “Produce quality – Do business dynamically” was successfully held on 16/09/17 at the Chamber of Fthiotida, in Lamia. The conclusions of the workshop, which was organized jointly by the Fthiotida Chamber of Commerce and the BIOCHEMIKI laboratories, are many and substantial.
A responsible food business always focuses on the consumer. Having this goal, food businesses must be properly guided to navigate with utmost safety in the Greek and international food market and to understand, deal with and control the risks involved.
The marketing of safe products should be at least an ethical commitment of businesses to the consumer. Ensuring good food quality is a key concern of European legislation, with which the businesses concerned must comply. By ensuring high quality, the business is strengthened and becomes more competitive through the Food Safety Management Plan (ISO 22000-HACCP). This enables each business not only to market its products within the country but also to create a solid basis for expanding its customer base abroad. In addition to producing safe products, it is the duty of businesses to provide consumers with correct information about their products. For this reason, it is very important that the label is correctly indicated in accordance with the requirements of food legislation.
In conclusion, consumer expectations for safe and quality food & beverages remain high. Ensuring the systematic and effective management of Food Safety from the producer, food industry, trader to the consumer is a factor of paramount importance for health protection.
