New legislation on the quality of Water for Human Consumption
The new Ministerial Decision (C1 (d)/GP οικ. 67322) on the quality of water for human consumption, as just recently published in the Government Gazette 3282, issue B’, on 19 September 2017, has immediate effect and repeals the previously existing KYA 2600/2001 on drinking water. The new EQA defines the specifications of water flowing in the distribution network and taken at the point, within the building or food establishment, where it comes out of the tap normally used to supply water for human consumption, as well as for food handling or processing.
In particular, this EIA:
establishes chemical, physical and microbiological parameters for monitoring the quality of water intended for human consumption and their respective maximum permissible concentrations (their parametric values)
it recasts and supplements the main body of EIA 2600/2001, as in force
Directive 2015/1787/EU of 6 October 2015 amending Annexes II and III of Council Directive 98/83/EC on the quality of water intended for human consumption is fully incorporated into the Greek legal order.
